Member Dog-sits for Crash Victims
May 23, 2010

On Sunday, May 23rd, Rescue 1 responded to a single vehicle rollover on I-95 in the southbound lane near the 23 mile marker. Both occupants were seriously injured, with one occupant being transported to Duke Medical Center. The couple's dog, Maggie, a Scottish terrier, was also in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Maggie was uninjured. With both her owners hospitalized, Rescue 1 Paramedic Chris Connor took it upon himself to take care of Maggie until arrangements could be by other family members to pick her up. Maggie stayed with Chris a couple of days and became the unofficial mascot of Rescue 1. Maggie was picked up by family members and we wish her and her owners the very best.
