Vehicle into a School
April 20, 2010, 0715 hrs
 
Rescue 1 was dispatched to motor vehicle collision at Littlefield Middle School NC41 North of Lumberton. Rescue 110 responded to the scene. A vehicle was involved in a collision on NC41, left the roadway, drove across the front yard of the school, and into one of the school entrances. The vehicle struck a wall and stopped approximately 60 feet inside the school near the cafeteria. The driver of the vehicle was entrapped. After determining the structure was safe, Rescue 1 personnel used the Jaws of Life to remove the driver's door and access the patient. The driver was removed from his vehicle and transported by Rescue 1 paramedics to Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton with serious injuries. There were no other injuries related to the incident. Agencies who also responded to the scene were Station 7 (East Howellsville), Station 1 (Allenton), Station 16 (Northwoods), Robeson County EMS, Robeson County Sheriff's Office and the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
